Historic Haight-Ashbury Home Restoration
Completed: 2025
Nestled in the heart of Haight-Ashbury, this iconic home, once the Hells Angels’ headquarters, is a true piece of San Francisco history. With its storied past, including photos of Janis Joplin and Pigpen gracing the stairs, preserving the character and legacy of the home was paramount. The owners, deeply connected to its heritage, sought to undo various poorly executed remodels while honoring the home’s rich history.
Our design focused on opening up the spaces and creating a light, airy atmosphere in an otherwise dark Victorian. The restoration was done with care and precision, ensuring that the home’s original features were lovingly preserved while introducing thoughtful updates to suit the modern lifestyle of a growing family with young children. The result is a home that feels both timeless and livable—nothing too precious, but crafted with attention to every detail.
We didn’t compromise on quality: custom-made lights by local artists illuminate the space, and every element of the design was thoughtfully considered. This project is a perfect blend of San Francisco history, modern functionality, and artistic craftsmanship.
